Dr Muhammad Nauman Akhtar is a Consultant Anesthetist working out of Scunthorpe and Goole hospitals.
His qualifications include: MBBS, MCPS, FCPS, FCAI, and FFMRCA
His special interests include: management of patients with chronic persistent neuropathic and somatic pain involving spinal column at all levels and other musculoskeletal structures. Includes diagnostic and therapeutic injections under flouroscopic or ultrasound guidance and specialist use of conventional and pulsed radiofrequency ablation. Management of complex pain syndromes such as CRPS, Abdominal and pelvic pain syndromes, sympathetically maintained pain, chronic post surgical pain, post amputation pain, cervicogenic and occipital headaches.
Dr Akhtar is a member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at RCoA , Royal College of Anaesthetists , College of Anesthetists Ireland , Association of Anaesthetists Great Britain and Ireland and College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
Biography: I graduated in medicine and started my primary training of Anaesthesia in Pakistan. After doing MCPS diploma in anaesthesia I passed fellowship exam (FCPS) exam after structured anaesthesia training.
I did my higher anaesthetic and pain medicine training in Yorkshire for over 5 years with rotations in York teaching hospital, Hull and east Yorkshire Hospitals and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS trust. This included higher vascular anaesthesia as an additional module.
I also did an advance training year in chronic pain medicine after higher training, at Bradford and Hull royal Infirmary. During this year I attended cancer pain sessions at St James university hospital.
