There have been big changes to our hospitals over the last 12 months – from new buildings and diagnostic equipment, to refurbished facilities and upgraded systems.
In fact, there have been so many contractors wandering around our sites, you might be forgiven for thinking hard hats and hi-vis vests are our new uniform.
But on a serious note, none of these improvements could have happened without the hard work of the Capital Projects team.
They’ve been involved in so many projects over the last 12 months, there are too many to list them all, but here are some of the highlights:
They’ve been involved in so many projects over the last 12 months, there are too many to list them all, but here are some of the highlights:
- Our new Emergency Departments and Same Day Emergency Care services in Grimsby and Scunthorpe
- The refurbishment of Ward 25 at Scunthorpe
- The upgrade of the medical gas supply at Grimsby
- The installation of improved fire safety measures across all three sites
- New diagnostic facilities, including Gamma Camera, Fluoroscopy, Maxillofacial, and Mammography
- Changing Places toilet facilities for the profoundly disabled
- Improved operating theatres in Scunthorpe and Grimsby
- Upgraded electrical and water supply systems
- Increased mortuary capacity
Together, they scope out where improvements can be made, source funding, work with the clinical teams on the design and development, before managing the construction phase through to completion.
It’s a tricky task – especially when you take into account that services need to continue to run throughout the works – but they’re more than up to the challenge and today, we want to say thanks to them for all their hard work.
