Free cycle security events are being held at our hospitals in Grimsby and Scunthorpe – and you’re invited.
As part of our ongoing partnership with Humberside Police, we have arranged for the following bike marking sessions to be held:
- In the main entrance of Scunthorpe General Hospital from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday, July 27
- On the grassed area outside cardiology at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, from 2pm to 4pm on Friday, July 29
Security and Safety Compliance Officer Phil Young said: “If you’re going somewhere on your bike, you want to know that it will be waiting for you when you return.
“We already provide secure bike sheds for our staff, but it’s also important to take other security measures too.
“That’s why we have asked our local Neighbourhood Policing Team to come to our sites and hold these events for our teams and our wider communities, to allow you to come and get advice and practical support in keeping your bike safe.”
Bike marking
Having your bike marked and registered with Bike Register makes it more likely that it can be returned to you if it is ever stolen.
Officers will be using the Bike Register Membership Plus Kit or Permanent Marking Kit to attribute a unique code to your bike, which can easily be looked up by the police, second-hand shops and members of the public, making it a matter of seconds to check if it’s been stolen and get it on its way back to its rightful owner.
