It’s only been open since September but our new Scunthorpe Hospital car park is already multi-award winning!
We’re delighted to announce that the decked car park has been awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking Award and Disabled Parking Accreditation (DPA) – just like the existing car parks at our hospitals.
The new two-floor car park has 91 public car parking spaces on the ground floor, including provision for disabled parking.
The upper floor – which has another 58 spaces – is for staff.
Proud to be multi-award winning
Associate Director of Facilities and Sustainability, Keith Fowler, said: “We’re really pleased that our new public car park has already been recognised as being both safe and disabled friendly.
“It’s really important to us that you know that when you need to come to our hospital, you can park safely and that accessible parking is available.
“There are strict criteria that have to be met in order to meet the standard for the awards, which are set out by the Police and Disabled Motoring UK.
“We were awarded the Park Mark award because of the security features incorporated into the build, including good levels of lighting and surveillance, as well as quality management.
“The auditors were also impressed with the standard of cleanliness.
“We have also taken steps to ensure that the facilities are easily accessible for those with disabilities, with accessible bays and payment facilities.
“We also have strict enforcement in place to ensure that disabled parking spaces are not abused by other motorists, so they are always there for those who need them.”
